The Lindner Washtech FILMS System Solution is a complete and modular process line dedicated to the recycling of plastic films (LDPE, LLDPE and similar fractions). It integrates shredding, pre-washing, intensive washing, separation, drying and final refinement into a fully engineered process designed to tackle the key challenges of film recycling: organic contamination, adhesives and labels, multi-layer structures, and mineral or organic impurities.
Agricultural Films
Agricultural films include materials such as greenhouse covers, silage films, bale wraps, crop protection films, mulch films and films used for strawberry or asparagus cultivation. These materials are characterized by very high contamination levels (20โ80%), including soil, sand, stones, organic residues and strong odors resulting from outdoor use.
Typical challenge: highly heterogeneous and heavily soiled input with a mix of solid, mineral and organic contaminants.
System objective: remove heavy impurities and surface contamination through robust mechanical and washing stages, preparing the film for further thermal and mechanical cleaning.
Result: recycled agricultural film fractions with purity levels suitable for reintroduction into film production cycles.
Post-Commercial Films
Post-commercial films originate from commercial and industrial activities, such as packaging films, pallet wraps, protective films and other materials that have not yet entered the domestic consumer cycle. Compared to post-consumer films, these fractions typically show lower organic contamination, but still require careful removal of labels and adhesive residues.
Typical challenge: complete removal of labels and glues without degrading the film structure, with special attention to the drying process due to the high LLDPE or LDPE content.
System objective: deliver clean film flakes with properties suitable for extrusion and reprocessing into new packaging materials.
Result: recycled material with performance characteristics comparable to virgin-based film applications.
Post-Consumer Films
Post-consumer films mainly derive from household and urban commercial waste collection, including bags, sacks, flexible packaging and other thin plastic fractions. These materials are often heavily contaminated with organic residues (oils, fats), labels with glue, aluminum residues and multilayer components, as well as strong odors.
Typical challenge: high contamination combined with thin, lightweight material structure, making it difficult to achieve deep cleaning without material loss.
System objective: a multi-step process including bale opening, pre-shredding, pre-washing, intensive washing (including optional hot washing), density separation and mechanical/thermal drying.
Result: clean film fractions with controlled residual moisture (often <4%), ready for high-quality extrusion.
Why the FILMS System Solution is Strategic
The FILMS solution is not simply a sequence of machines but a fully engineered system in which each component works in synergy to maximize process efficiency and output quality. Each film category โ agricultural, post-commercial and post-consumer โ presents specific challenges and requires tailored process configurations, from feeding and contamination handling to washing intensity, separation technology and drying control.
